how people use electronic information and how system design
features affect use and usability will be presented.
The aim of the research project is to focus not only on the
commonalities among the findings, but also on the
diversities, and to develop concepts that will enable more

Content within Context: Identifying Workflow Requirements
Across Diverse User Communities
The true
value of the search and retrieval process lies in how
efficiently and cost-effectively it allows the user to
complete the task at hand, and how well it is integrated
into their workflow process. Any individual seeking
information without the help of a professional intermediary,
whether they be a researcher, professor, business manager,
physician or an independent information consultant has
unique content workflow and financial requirements that
shape the value proposition of the search and retrieval
process. This session will focus on the current and future
information retrieval needs of a diverse group of
professional and desktop searchers - needs that information
providers must know, understand and meet - in order to
become an integral and essential part of the information
seeker's everyday life.
