Speaker: Lawrence Wilkinson, Chairman, Heminge & Condell (H&C) [Slides]

Today's information community bears little resemblance to that of even a decade ago. Disruptive forces resulting from sophisticated technology in the hands of the born-digital generation are changing worldwide communication and information seeking behaviors. User-generated content, social software, real-time information sharing and research collaboration are becoming the norm, and publishers, technology providers and libraries have been forced to re-engineer their products and services and rethink their roles. Learn more about the disruptive forces that are changing the information landscape and what is required to be successful in the face of change.

1:45pm - 2:30pm: The Impact of Disruption

Moderated by: Keith MacGregor, Executive Vice President, Academic and Government Strategic Business Unit, Thomson Scientific

Speaker: Bette Brunelle, Vice President and Lead Analyst, Outsell, Inc.   [Slides]

Disruption and change are often used to describe the current dynamics within the information community. But can the impact of disruption be measured? Is the creation and acceptance of  user-generated and open access content on the rise? Has free information on the Web diluted the use and value of authoritative content? Are physical libraries becoming a thing of the past or are they assuming a new role? Are traditional content providers experiencing a business decline or are they adapting to technology and developing new business models for growth? How are wireless campuses and virtual classrooms impacting information access and retrieval? Outsell, Inc. will provide their insights on these questions and more as they work to measure the impact of disruption.

2:30pm - 3:00pm: Break and Networking Opportunity
