NFAIS Hosts Workshop, June 18, at The Brookings Institution on Choosing Platforms to Fuel Scholarly Research  


Workshop to focus on strategies that government agencies, nonprofit scholarly societies and publishers can consider to optimize the selection, adoption and migration of new platforms

May 26, 2015, Annapolis, MD – The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAIS™), the nation’s leading membership association for the information services industry, will host a Workshop, June 18, on how government agencies and nonprofit scholarly societies can select and implement content platforms that maximize the hosting and dissemination of their research content.

This special Workshop, taking place at The Brookings Institution in Washington, DC, centers on the nature of fast-evolving content platform technologies that, combined with changing user behavior and expectations, are critical to the global scholarly research community. Attendees of this workshop will hear a set of experts from government, nonprofit organizations and publishers discuss their experiences and lessons learned in the selection, adoption and migration of new platforms for their users.

Key topics the speakers will explore include understanding what users are looking for in effective platforms; knowing how to migrate seamlessly from one platform to another without disruption to daily workflow; and looking at the standards to which platforms need to adhere both now and in the future.
