Members of the National Federation of Advanced Information Services ( NFAIS™) represent a global cross-section of content and technology providers, including database creators, publishers, libraries, host systems, information technology developers, content management providers, and other related groups. They embody a true partnership of commercial, nonprofit, and government organizations, all sharing the common mission of improving ease of access to as well as effective navigation and use of authoritative, credible information in order to build the world's knowledgebase.

NFAIS members' services successfully merge human intellectual processes and judgment with the strength of technological solutions. The primary activities undertaken by member organizations are creating, aggregating, organizing, and other wise facilitating ease of access to and effective navigation of authoritative, credible information.

Assisting users in creating knowledge from published information is the key focus and purpose of every NFAIS member. Some of the hallmarks that distinguish the products and services provided by NFAIS members from other information and technology providers include: content management; precision search and retrieval; enriched indexing; depth and scope of content; and automated electronic access.
