Announces New Governance for 2005-2006
Philadelphia, PA, March 1,
2005 – NFAIS, the premier membership organization for
groups that aggregate, organize and facilitate access to
information, announced today its new governance for the
coming year. Lucian Parziale, Vice President, Information
Systems, The H. W. Wilson Company is the incoming
President, and Linda R. Sacks, Vice President, Business
Strategy, Thomson Scientific, will continue to serve on
the Board of Directors in the capacity of Immediate
Past-President. Newly-elected members of the Board for a
three-year term (2005 – 2008) include:
• David Gillikin, Head, MEDLARS Management Section,
National Library of Medicine
• Janice Mears, Manager, Marketing Communications,
Chemical Abstracts Service
• Judith Russell, Superintendent of Documents, U.S.
Government Printing Office
In addition, Marjorie M. K.
Hlava, President, Access Innovations, Inc. was re-elected
to serve an open two-year term (2005 – 2007) term.
NFAIS Executive Director,
Bonnie Lawlor, announced that the association’s membership
has chosen current Board member Linda Beebe, Senior
Director, PsycINFO, of the American Psychological
Association as its President-Elect 2005 - 2006.
“The new NFAIS governance
represents a continuation of the experienced and dedicated
leadership that has been an NFAIS hallmark,” commented Ms.
Lawlor. “Our Board members are representative of the major
global information and technology providers across all
market sectors – private, non-profit and government. They
have a proven commitment to the organization and its
membership. Indeed, under their leadership the
organization has improved its finances and services, and
membership has increased. Each individual Board Member is
focused on ensuring that NFAIS evolves to meet the needs,
wants and expectations of its diverse and growing
membership. I look forward to working with all of them in
the months to come.”
