The SEPM Society for Sedimentary Geology & The Seismological Society of America Launch New Publications Portals on the Silverchair Platform

Charlottesville, VA, Tulsa, OK, and Albany, CA – October 4, 2017 –Silverchair Information Systems, in partnership with the SEPM Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM) and the Seismological Society of America (SSA), announced the launch of their fully integrated publications portals on the Silverchair Platform. These partnerships occur in conjunction with the newly expanded Society Services program from GeoScienceWorld (GSW) and with GSW’s move to Silverchair, as announced earlier this year.

The launch of SEPM’s renowned content includes the Journal of Sedimentary Research (JSR), PALAIOS, and more than 220 ebooks. Now in its 85th year, JSR is the oldest earth science journal dedicated to the field of sedimentology and has a long tradition of publishing papers that become benchmark contributions to sedimentary geology. PALAIOS is the journal of choice for innovative research emphasizing the impact of life on Earth's history as recorded in the paleontological and sedimentological records. SEPM is now able to take advantage of GSW’s interactive graphics display and integrated user experience.  With their books and journals now available through a single platform, SEPM’s readers can easily access all available research through a unified search and discovery application.

SSA brings to the Silverchair Platform its two distinguished journals, the Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America—the premier journal of advanced research in earthquake seismology and related disciplinesand Seismological Research Letters—a journal of broad seismological interest for less-formal communication among seismologists, engineers, and earthquake hazards-policy professionalsLeveraging GSW’s article page design, SSA journals now have an interactive figure and image display, further enriching the user experience for their content.  In addition, the GSW site prioritizes data and supplementary information that allows SSA researchers to quickly and efficiently take their analysis beyond the article text.

“We’re excited that SEPM and SSA have substantially advanced the delivery of their online publications using the Silverchair Platform,” said Thane Kerner, Silverchair CEO. “By leveraging the new infrastructure and tools created for GSW, SEPM and SSA will achieve meaningful operating economies while providing distinctive value for their members, authors, and readers.”

“After months of planning and hard work all around, SEPM is glad to be hosting its offerings on the Silverchair Platform in conjunction with GeoScienceWorld.  The new online user options make it easier to read and use SEPM’s world class publications,” said Dr. Howard Harper, Executive Director of SEPM.

"SSA is pleased to have launched its journals on the Silverchair platform, which allows us to offer a rich user experience for our readers and subscribers," said Nan Broadbent, SSA Executive Director.
